What started out as a love for color and design in an Indiana embroidery business, has blossomed into a passion for creating abstract paintings in a studio amongst the Blue Ridge foothills. Laid off from my mundane, factory job in my mid-20s, I realized that I had a creative side yearning to be expressed. I was creating a masterpiece on the golf course, envisioning each shot to play the ultimate round of golf. It wasn’t until I opened a trophy and embroidery business, that I realized my love for color and design. This passion then quickly spread to interior design, where any wall could be transformed into a canvas.
After moving to Florida, with an open, eager mind, I began to teach myself painting techniques and concepts, and study the masterpieces of Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Rothko, Miro, and Lakey. I am especially inspired by Jackson Pollock. My dream was, and still is, to have a big room and throw paint like Pollock.
Also, it wasn’t until I started painting that my mother shared with me that she used to paint. Her red easel now has a special place in my hilltop studio.
I fell in love with using acrylics, and creating abstracts incorporating color, innovative techniques, and different mediums to give dimension to all my works of art. “Abstracts in Alignment” was created out of a feeling that if you have a dream, no matter how farfetched it seems, you can do it. I hope you are as inspired by my paintings as I am in creating them for you.
